After a three-year break Robert land Academy and Massanutten Military Academy have once again been able to conduct the annual Best Raider competition. It is a grueling 36-hour event which tests the cadets’ mental and physical toughness as well as their ability to perform 33 different tasks in an austere environment while suffering from sleep deprivation. 

In Grade 9 Canadian Geography, students are currently learning about the effects of the oil industry. In their lab they created "oil" by mixing cocoa powder and vegetable oil, and then "spilled" the oil.

As we approach the end of the school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the impor­tance of preparation. At our private military school, we understand that preparation is essential for success, both in the classroom and on the battlefield. That is why we make it a priority to instill in our students the values of communication, team­work, listening skills, and setting a clear vision for success.

The Alumni (Sub) Committee is a branch of the Out­reach Committee, with a similar mission and vision to the Family Guild. The main difference of course is that the Alumni Committee is comprised of “Old Boys” who attended the Academy for at least 1 year at some point since its inception.

Cadets of RCACC’s 2968 Red Star program have been focusing their train­ing around safely navigat­ing the great outdoors for the past couple of months.

When I arrived at RLA almost two months ago, I thought this is just going to be a new terrible in camouflage. It wasn’t until my second day at the Academy that I heard about something new and interesting.

I have been attending Robert Land Academy for three months, and this year I had the privilege of joining the school’s badminton team for the first time. I was excited to try my hand at this competitive and skill-based sport. Fortunately, Robert Land Academy provided me with excellent badminton courts and a professional coach, coach Major Stock, who helped me improve my game.

However, RLA helped me in many different ways, allowing me to develop essential skills that I can take into the workforce and my university studies. These skills include time management, team working, and community work.

Along with a focus on academics and physical fitness, our students are involved in a lot of fun and exciting activities throughout the year. They take canoe trips on the Welland River; they climb and descend the new Rappel tower; and they learn coding and robot­ics. The students also have the opportunity to take part in some adven­ture activities, such as scuba-diving; skydiving; and the Bataan Memorial Death March.

As predicted RLA's chess team dominated the 11-week chess tournament at Bishop's Keep in St. Catharines with all three RLA players in the top three.
