Last Wednesday the Grade 10 science students headed outdoors to test the popular theory that dropping a Mentos mint into a bottle of Diet Coke would cause the soda to erupt out of the bottle.

They dropped Mentos into a variety of soda brands and flavours and both cold and hot soda to measure which soda produced the highest eruption. The students then added pennies to the same varieties of soda, with some surprising results.
