Our boys went out on their first X-Country meet yesterday, Monday September 19, 2022. All boys were excited and ready to participate. The Bulldog Invitational at Firemen’s Park was a fantastic way for the boys to get some practice in before zone and familiarize themselves with the trail. We had 6 boys competing in the Senior Boys Division. At first, the boys were disheartened to see the 81 Sr. Boys participants, as last year, they only competed against half the amount. Nevertheless, they pulled up their socks and conquered the 5km trail. The results were as follows:
Student | Time | Place |
Calvin Barry | 18:48 | 18th |
Naji Sallans | 19:06 | 20th |
Vidyha Ramiah Petit | 21:17 | 44th |
Will Kulidgian | 21:33 | 49th |
Muna Assams | 26:10 | 73rd |
Christian Gravel Pucillo | 26:20 | 75th |
Once the race was over, the boys were ravenous and ready to eat the delicious subs prepared by our kitchen staff. When they finished eating, we packed up and headed home. We took a 5 minute detour to drive past Niagara Falls as some of the boys had never had a chance to see them in real life. It was a great day had by all who participated, including Antoni, who was able to encourage his Sr. peers, and learn the importance of pacing!
In the end, Robert Land Academy tied for 6th place out of 9 teams total. We are excited to see what some more practice and hard work will do at the Gryphons Invitational Meet next week!
