X Country Zone Meet: Firemen’s Park Results

On Wednesday October 19th, CJ Barry, Naji Sallans, Vidyah Ramiah-Petit, Muna Assams, and Christian Gravel-Pucillo headed out with coaches Ahlstedt and Wielink to Firemen’s Park in Niagara Falls to compete in a zone meet.

Coach Wielink reports:

On the way there we discussed that our main goal is competition with ourselves. We were happy to hear the boys reflect on their previous scores and how they planned to improve. This race, being 6km rather than 5km had them strategizing the best ways to maintain pace as well as start and finish strides. Seeing this comradery and teamwork between them was everything we could have hoped for as coaches. When we arrived, the weather was not in our favor as intermittent showers and chilly winds graced most of the day. Luckily for us, there was hot chocolate being handed out by the volunteer fire fighters so we were all able to stay warm with our hot drinks and dust blankets!

Timings ran ahead of schedule and the boys’ race began at 1:45 pm. It was a 6km muddy loop that the boys tackled easily, and made their coaches very proud! The results are as follows:

PlaceStudentTime
3rdCalvin Barry24:12.7
5thNaji Sallans25:01.2
12thVidhya Ramiah Petit27:09.9
23rdMuna Assams31:16.9
25th Christian Gravel-Pucillo33:21.5

As part of Zone 3 we came in 2nd place as a team. CJ and Naji had both also qualified as individuals for SOSSA had our team not placed. We are proud of our boys in this accomplishment, and can’t wait to see what they can do at SOSSA.  Thank you for your continued support. Please take a minute if you see them on campus, to congratulate all of these boys on their hard work and success thus far!

Go Loyalists!
