RLA’s chess team has been taking part in an 11-week chess tournament at The Bishop’s Keep chess club in St. 11-week. Throughout the eleven weeks members of the team missed several games due to conflicting schedules as members of other RLA teams or being off campus.

On Monday, April 7, 2023, Steven Tang won another game in this tournament. He was also the only member of the team present.

With only one week left in the tournament Tang’s win this week gives him a lead of such a great margin that it is impossible for him to lose his first place standing. Dimias Sutherland, who was in first place for much of the tournament but did not attend Monday and cannot attend the final week, is solidly in second place and also assured to finish second.

Presently, Thomas Uzan is in third place. Putting all three of RLA’s players in the top three spots. However, Uzan’s lead isn’t as wide, and he will likely finish fourth after next week if he is unable to attend the final session.
