RCAC Expedition Weekend

Robert Land just sent seven more RCAC cadets in various capacities to familiarize and hone their expedition skills at Kelso Conservation Area in Milton, ON.

Captain Dyson reports:

Bublyk, Jenkins D, Continelli, Sallans, Baz, & Davies are all senior boys in the Silver and Gold Star levels and as such are developing hard skills, such as mountain biking, canoeing, hiking and camping. More importantly, they are developing soft skills such as critical thinking, communication, and teamwork.

Petit volunteered his time as a staff cadet to help organize cadets from other cadet corps from the Niagara and Greater Toronto Area. As a team leader. Petit ensured that his team was organized, fed, properly equipped and got to classes in various parts of the park on time.

Reports back on our students were invariably positive. Sallans was pointed out as the quiet leader in his group who helped stabilize the more boisterous cadets, Bublyk is seen as a workhorse who quietly went about his jobs. The other boys were well integrated in their teams, participated well and contributed to class discussions on everything from stoves, through canoe equipment and on to their ABCQ’s (bike safety checks). Though the weekend expedition season is now complete, there will be opportunities for boys in the winter, spring and summer to test and improve their skills in a variety of settings.

Well done,

G.C. (Greg) Dyson

Captain
