A Coy Holds Buttons and Ties Competition

Last week, after two weeks of practicing tying the dreaded Double Windsor knot, in their Houses, A Coy had their annual tie-tying competition. Each student had to tie at least one, and then as many other approved knots as possible, all within 5 minutes, with no talking! Winning by only one knot, Pierpoint House claimed victory!

On Tuesday the students in A Coy particpated in their annual button sewing competition.

At RLA, for some unknown reason, buttons start to fall off BDUs in the washing machine around this time of year. The button sewing competition is to teach the boys how to sew their own buttons on their clothes. Button sewing, like tying a tie, is one of many life skills the studens learn at RLA.

After 2 weeks of practicing sewing, the boys lined up in their houses to square off against each other. Each student had to sew a button on, have it tested, and then sew on as many buttons as possible in the time remaining.

After great consternation, Crysler House and Pierpoint were neck in neck for the remaining 4 minutes of the competition. Just before the time was up, Crysler House got one last button in, securing the title for this year! Good job Fellas!
