RLA Cadets Attend Formal Mess Dinner At Fonthill Legion

This past Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, six students represented RLA’s RCAC Corps 2968 at a formal mess dinner held at the Fonthill Legion with two other cadet corps, RCAC 68 and RCAC 613. There were also representatives present from the Lincoln & Welland primary reserve unit.

Justin Gagne, Johann Mayer, Jack Nicefroro, Oscar Ocegueara, Elias Braun, and Matthew Gottlieb enjoyed the company of other cadets in a formal dinner setting that combined formality, fun and good food.

A mess dinner is considered a parade as everyone is dressed in their finest uniform, and RLA’s representatives looked sharp in their scarlets; the CO or his/her guests address the members as a group; and there are strict etiquette rules to follow. Punishments that were handed out by the PMC (President of the Mess Committee) included cadets having to sing “I’m a Barbie girl”, “I’m a little teapot” and “I want it that way”.

The boys all enjoyed the food, entertainment and company, having their eyes opened a little to the idea of a regimental family.
