RLA Students Take a Leap of Faith

This past week 6 boys, Stephan Paterson, William Peters, Tom Zunik, Duncan Larmer, Arsal Adnan, and Oscar Oceguera traveled to SWOOP skydiving in Dundas to earn para wings.

On Friday the students and staff spent eight hours doing the grounds course learning how to pull their own parachutes, operate the canopies, and learn how to land properly.

The students were supposed to do their jump on Saturday but were met with 41km winds. The group returned on Tuesday to more weather and the plane being grounded, however a small 30-minute window opened with allowed Stephan to complete his jump.

Wednesday, June 12, the group was back and without any more weather issues were all able to complete their jumps. Despite Oscar jumping from 9,000 ft due to some clouds, all of the RLA team, including two staff members, were able to complete their jumps successfully.
