A Day To Boast About The School

Tim Hudak: Board Chair – Along with a focus on academics and physical fitness, our students are involved in a lot of fun and exciting activities throughout the year. They take canoe trips on the Welland River; they climb and descend the new Rappel tower; and they learn coding and robotics. The students also have the opportunity to take part in some adventure activities, such as scuba-diving; skydiving; and the Bataan Memorial Death March.

Each year the school hosts an Annual Inspection and Open House to showcase these activities; celebrate our student’ successes; and demonstrate what life on campus of a military-inspired boarding school is all about.

In the recent past our Annual Inspection event has been either cancelled outright or toned down significantly due to the COVID 19 virus. The board and staff are all very excited that we can host this event once again, and this year’s Annual Inspection & Open House will be bigger and better than ever.

Staff are busy planning a day of interactive and interesting displays that will showcase the school’s academic and athletic programs; adventure activities our students take part in; and our Cadet Corps and other clubs. Students will play a major role in the day by helping to create the displays; challenge our guests in some games and Academy activities; and be on parade.

It is an amazing opportunity for parents to see what their sons have been doing throughout the year, for alumni to catch up on what has been happening at the school; and for our community to visit the campus and see what we’re all about.

One of the most exciting events happening at this year’s open house is the grand opening of the school’s new, state-of-the-art science lab. This beautiful new lab was made possible through the support of our parents, alumni, staff, and community of supporters. It took a bit longer than expected to have construction completed and we are very excited to be able to officially open the lab this spring.

I hear our science teachers have some great experiments and activities planned to celebrate the opening of the new lab. I hope we will see you on Saturday, May 13 for the Annual Inspection and Open House, it’s going to be a great day. I also invite you to bring family and friends with you to see what RLA is all about, take part in some fun activities, and enjoy the free BBQ.
